Robert Downey Jr. Hints At Possible Iron Man 4 Movie

The suits over at Marvel Studios know they have a good thing in their various comic book film franchises, a fact supported by Iron Man 3 grossing $1.21 billion last year. Robert Downey Jr., the actor behind Tony Stark/Iron Man, hinted at a possible fourth movie in the successful series.

Entertainment Weekly was on the set of Avengers: Age Of Ultron recently and they asked Downey about the prospect of a Iron Man 4 movie on the horizon. The world’s top paid actor, according to Forbes, wasn’t exactly clear but gave clues that he’s open to doing so if Marvel wants.

From EW:

“It’s down to Kevin [Feige, Marvel Studios president] and Ike [Perlmutter, CEO of Marvel Entertainment] and Disney to come to us with what the proposal is, and that’s on us to agree or disagree,” Downey said. “When things are going great, there’s a lot of agreement.”

Until his bosses decide he’s too rich for their blood, Downey says he’s happy to hold on to the iron mask. “It’s that thing of: Why give up the belt when it feels like you can barely get jabbed?” he says—then adds a caveat. “Most people are saying that right when they get knocked out.”

Despite the confidence displayed, Downey didn’t offer any hard confirmations but he did add that the future is “uncertain” at the end of the EW piece.

With the success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe thus far, it’d be impossible to think that the studio wouldn’t pull the trigger on another Iron Man film.
