Street Baller Dunks Over Police Car In “R.I.P. Eric Garner” Shirt [Video]

The New York Police Department are doing the best they can to save face in light of several of their officers applying the chokehold to suspects, producing disastrous results.

During the 2014 Under The Lights Basketball Men’s All-Star Game, one slam dunk contestant stuck it to the NYPD in the best, nonviolent possible way.

Gothamist found out that Staten Island police approached the game, leaving everyone fearful that the annual fun would be disrupted. In all actuality, the officers were there to participate in the festivities.

Brian Hogan-Gary, 20, immediately used his wit and asked the cops of 122nd Precinct if it was cool to use their cruiser as a prop for his next dunk. The cops got the green light from their commanding officer and it was on.

As fate would have it, Gary was wearing a Eric Garner shirt, the man who was choked to death by Staten Island police officers a couple of weeks ago. Channeling the syngergy from the t-shirt and crowd enthusiam, the dunk was cleared and Gary hopped on the hood of the police car to celebate.

UTL league founder Joe Soto told The Staten Island Advance, “The cops were really great and nice about it — it was a little bit surreal. People were really surprised the cops wanted to be a part of it. It definitely brought down a little of the tension between police and the community.”

As it should have.
