Ray Rice Apologizes To Wife For Domestic Violence

Ray Rice is still feeling the pain from his domestic violence incident in February. The video of Rice allegedly knocking out his now wife, Janay Palmer, and dragging her unconscious out of an elevator, isn’t an incident that the football player takes lightly, he has publicly apologized for his actions.

At a news conference Wednesday (July 31) Rice vowed to change his ways. “My actions that night were totally inexcusable,” he said. “That’ night I just replay over and over in my head. That’s not me, my actions were inexcusable, that’s something I have to live with that the rest of my life. The pain that I’m talking about living is waking up every day, and my daughter’s two years old  — one day she’s going to know the power of Google, and me having to explain that to her, what happened that night.”

Added the Baltimore Raven’s running back , “I know that’s not who I am as a man. That’s not who my mom raised me to be.”

Rice noted that he was raised by a single mother ahead of admitting to letting his entire family down, “the whole Baltimore community,” and his Ravens teammates.

“What I’ve done going forward, I’m a man to said that I needed help,” he continued. “One thing I realized, as a man I’m not afraid to ask for help. Last time I didn’t publicly apologize to my wife, and I realize that hit home with a lot of people. There’s many nights that me and my wife sleep together and we still have to deal with this. Her pain is my pain, and my pain is her pain.”

In the future, Rice and his wife plan to “go out there and help people” affected by domestic violence . “It’s just not right, it shouldn’t be tolerated,” he said.

The NFL suspended Rice for two games. ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith got suspended from the network  over comments made during a Rice discussion.
