Range is among the first words that come to mind when describing Vic Mensa. His 2013 project, INNANETAPE, and the music that’s followed displays his ability to adapt to any soundscape that his ear surveys.
His latest track, “Wimme Nah,” produced by Kaytranada (keep that name in mind, too), does the same.
What’s heard is a far departure from the soulful Chicago sound that’s been Mensa’s comfort zone at times since his time in Kids These Days. This time, the rapper flourishes while delivering potent lines over a futuristic beat. His verses are similar in flow and cadence to another one of his new cuts, “Feel That.”
Mensa has been in a rather giving mood as of late. Let’s hope that a project is on the way. Stream “Wimme Nah” below.
