Talk of the 2014 Little League World Series without mentioning 13-year-old Mone Davis would be ludicrous.

The hoopla is about more than the Philadelphia native’s gender. Quite frankly, Davis, can pitch and for the second consecutive game, the opposition felt her wrath.

Following the Mid-Atlantic Regional championship, the teenager’s first shutout performance that resulted in a win over Delaware-Newark National, the Taney Youth Baseball Association of Philadelphia faced Tennessee. But the results were just the same. Pitching six innings, Davis gave up two hit, one infield, and struck out eight, needing only 70 of the 85 pitch limit to do so.

Taney won the game 4-0.

Though not the first girl to start in a LLWS game, Davis is the first to win one. Salute.
