Cop Suspended For Threatening To Kill Ferguson Protestors [Videos]

The situation between cops, protestors, and even the media in Ferguson, Mo. is still on bad terms, although things have gotten less violent than in previous days, a St. Louis police officer who pointed a semi-automatic riffle at, and threatened to kill  protestors has been suspended indefinitely.

The public servant is actually a St. Ann Municipality cop, not a Ferguson officer. He’s being called “Officer Go F*ck Yourself” because that’s how he responded when a citizen journalist asked for his name. He also told an entire crowd,”I’ll f*ckin’ kill you! Get back!”

That’s probably not the best way to handle tense situations.

Mashable reports:

Update 4:45 p.m. ET: The ACLU says the officer has been removed from duty as a result of a letter the organization sent to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Update 5 p.m. ET: A spokesman with the St. Louis County Police Department confirmed the removal in a statement to Mashable and called the action “inappropriate.” He writes:

On Tuesday, August 19, 2014, shortly before midnight, an incident occurred wherein a St. Ann Police Officer pointed a semi-automatic assault rifle at a peaceful protestor after a verbal exchange. It was at this time a St. Louis County Police Sergeant walked over and immediately took action, forcing the officer to lower the weapon, and escorting him away from the area. The unified command strongly feel these actions are inappropriate, and not indicative of the officers who have worked daily, to keep the peace. The St. Ann Police Officer involved in the incident has been relieved of duty and suspended indefinitely. For any further regarding the status of the officer, or any following internal investigation, questions need to be directed to the St. Ann Police Department.

A police officer pointed his gun at a group people documenting events in Ferguson Tuesday night and threatened to kill them, according to video footage posted to YouTube on Wednesday.

Jon Ziegler  — aka Revolutionary Z –is the man who caught the officer on camera, while he was live streaming from Ferguson. Ziegler lives in Chicago, according to his Twitter account. He’s been in St. Louis recording ongoing protests to show the “people’s perspective.”
