Mum is never the word for Vince Staples, who “refuses the right to be silent,” on a new track called “Hands Up” from his upcoming Hell Can Wait EP.

In a true rabble-rouser’s fashion, the rapper holds no punches while lyrically painting a picture of the corrupt practices of police in his native Long Beach, Calif. Staples is very tactful of his verbal presentation, citing the racial and prejudicial implications that members of law enforcement have.

Considering that the wordsmith was very vocal on Twitter following the deaths of Eric Garner and Michael Brown, it would be no surprise if those events somehow affected how this record came together.
