Authorities are trying to figure out what prompted a Miami nightclub shooting where fifteen people were wounded, including a handful of minors. The youngest victim was said to be an eleven-year-old girl.

The incident occurred around 1 a.m. on Sunday morning at The Spot near Northwest 64th Street and Seventh Avenue. Police officers and emergency crews responded to the scene where eyewitnesses say there were more than 100 shots fired.

“We’re not sure if it was a private party or whether it was an actual open-for-business club night that these teens should have not been in attendance,” police spokeswoman Frederica Burden relayed to the media. “We’re asking the community to help us out with any information of anything they may have seen at that time. We don’t know the motive at this point. We don’t have any idea whether we have one shooter or multiple shooters and right now, the investigation is continuing and we just need the public’s help.”

Seven of the victims were transported to the hospital by paramedics. The others were taken by friends and family. One male was found not breathing at the scene but he’s currently listed in stable condition.

Miami Fire Rescue Capt. Ignatius Carroll expressed for his disdain for the scene upon arrival.

“What was very surprising to the responders was that these were kids that were out at 1 o’clock in the morning in a club and this type of violence took place where a bunch of kids were gathering,” he told the AP. “It’s very disturbing to see that.”
