The New York Police Department is dangerously skating on thin ice with the media but they repeatedly keep finding ways to make the news in the worst way possible.

The latest gaffaw of NYPD racial profiling comes out of the ritzy Brooklyn area of Park Slope when an officer allegedly told a group of African-American teens to get out of the neighborhood,” from the police cruiser loudspeaker. The incident occured in broad daylight on Sept. 22 around 2:45 p.m.

According to DNAinfo.com, a Brooklyn resident named Sara Bennett brought it to the 78th Precinct Community Council meeting’s attention as she recounted the racial profiling in her testimony.

“I was really really upset and disturbed, not by the kids, but by the way the police were yelling at them to get out of the neighborhood,” she told police officers who were present at the meeting. She described the scene as seeing about group of about five or six Black teens and the police car’s dome lights flashing without the siren being on.

Commanding Officer Captain Frank DiGiacomo denied hearing about the incident in question but justified the officer’s actions in a way. He said “most of the crimes that happen in our command are from outside people committing the crimes. If [teens] are not playing basketball, you’re not playing soccer, you’re not doing something productive in the neighborhood, I can see [officers] moving them.”

In layman’s terms, WWB in the wrong neighborhood is still a criminal offense.
