Since DJ Snake and Lil Jon joined for contemporary club anthem “Turn Down For What” last December, the term has cemented itself as the “go-to” question in modern Pop culture. Finding time to make the phrase more significant, the Atlanta rapper/producer recently teamed with Rock The Vote for “Turn Out For What,” hoping to increase voter turnout for this year’s mid-term elections.

The video features cameos from Academy Award actress/comedian Whoopi Goldberg, EJ Johnson, Lena Dunham, and other celebrities. During the public service announcement, some even discuss issues that inspire them to vote ranging from marriage equality and reproductive rights to prison reform.

In regards to Lil Jon, it’s quite clear what he stands for in the legislative realm. “What’s up, this is Lil Jon,” the rapper says in the video as he lights a giant makeshift spliff. “And I’m turning out for the legalization of marijuana.”

Sending a statement to The Daily BeastLil Jon didn’t mind lending himself to a worthy cause. “The work that Rock the Vote does is incredible,” Lil Jon said. “It’s cool for me to collab with such an iconic organization.” According to Rock The Vote spokeswoman Audrey Gelman, the ATL legend took “zero convincing” for the collaboration.

Rock the Vote spokeswoman Audrey Gelman told The Daily Beast that Lil Jon “took zero convincing” to do the video.

However, this isn’t the first time the “King of Crunk” has been outspoken about politics. During the 2012 presidential elections, Lil Jon went to Twitter to vent his frustrations against candidate Mitt Romney and earlier spoke to TMZ about his thoughts on Obama’s first term in office.

Does this video has the potential to encourage new voters or will it go the way of Citizen Change’s “Vote or Die?” Watch the video below and comment below.
