Too $hort’s accomplishments are endless within his 30-year career and a week ago, he added another notch to his platinum belt loops: music mogul.

Together with Monica Payne, $hort Dog (real name Todd Shaw), launched The Magic Gate, an all-inclusive, one-stop shop for all music needs.

Hip-Hop Wired joined Echoing Soundz Entertainment to cover the event in Studio City and also talked with the pimp of the hour, as well as Ms. Payne about the short-term goals of The Magic Gate empire. Too $hort also discussed how much of a pioneer he was by having other rappers follow his lead by taking guns into the airport. Namely, Waka Flocka Flame.

The Magic Gate is made possible by a handpicked board of directors, talented artists and executives including Senior VP Max Gousse (former Senior VP of A&R at Island/Def Jam records – Beyonce, YG, Ty Dolla Sign), General Manager Taura Stinson, Creative Team Directors Adam Tillman-Young and his wife Shani Tillman-Young, Creative Artistic Director Shawn Barton (Outkast, CeeLo Green), VP of Development Erika Conner (producer for film Idlewild), Animator/Creative Producer Maxwell Benson (Maxwell Benson Entertainment Ltd.), Head of Public Relations Echo Hattix (E-40, Ceelo Green, Xzibit, Master P) and Joi Gilliam (Dungeon Family) as the head of Artisan Polishing.
