Highly touted Los Angeles Lakers rookie Julius Randle‘s season may already over. Last night (Oct 27), the no. 7 NBA draft pick broke his right leg in the 4th quarter of Lakers loss to the Houston Rockets (where Kobe Bryant called Dwight Howard soft).

The power forward made a move to the basket then threw the ball away, falling to the court after colliding with a pair of Rockets and seeming to trip over his own feet or roll an ankle. According to the Associated Press, the initial diagnosis is a broken right tibia.

With his teammates surrounding him in support, Randle’s right leg was immobilized as he was removed from the court on a stretcher and taken to a local hospital.

At the moment there is no timetable for the 19-year-old Kentucky basketball product’s return to the court. This is the second major injury to the franchise this season as Steve Nash will sit out the entire season with a bad back.
