Maybach Music Group rapper Wale has another fresh gig on his resume besides “MC” and “sneakerhead.” Today (Oct. 29), the NBA’s Washington Wizards announced that the “Nike Boots” rapper will be the team’s “creative liason” for the new season.

According to the Wizards, Wale will be a part of “numerous initiatives” throughout the 2014-2015 season. His first duty is performing at the Wizards home opener this Saturday (Nov. 1).

“I’m excited to start building as the creative liaison for the Washington Wizards,” said Wale via a press statement. “As a D.C. native and lifelong Wizards fan, this is truly an exciting and organic relationship for me. We’ve got some exciting projects up our sleeve that will roll out throughout the season so be on the lookout.”

Wale’s songs “Ambition” and “The Work” will be a part of the Wizard’s opening video all season and will be participating in charitable projects in partnership with the franchise. Also, he will collaborate on designing team merchandise as part of his duties.

Wale isn’t the first rapper with formal ties to an NBA franchise as Jay Z used to be a minority owner of the Brooklyn Nets while Drake is the global ambassador of the Toronto Raptors.
