The 2014-2015 hasn’t even begun to teethe and Kevin Love is already thinking about his exit tragedy out of Cleveland. At least, that’s the word according to Chicago Bulls in-house blogger, Sam Smith.

It’s not going to get as much discussion during the season, but one of the biggest issues for the Cavs is that both LeBron James and Kevin Love own opt outs after this season. LeBron James basically cannot afford to go anywhere after his return to Cleveland. But watch out for Love. Indications are he will seriously consider the opt out and has his eyes on a return to Los Angeles, where he attended college and where the Lakers long have had him on their free agent wish list.

Of course, at this early in the season it’s all hearsay and the Bulls aren’t endorsing Smith’s statements (which likely are aiming to rattle their Central Division rival after a shaky 2-3 start).

However, ProBasketballTalk sees the logic in the speculation, pointing to the smell of money being the biggest factor. With his years of experience and the NBA salary cap inflation, Love could have a Cleveland salary of have a max salary of $18,602,898 next year, or he could opt out for a bigger contract elsewhere.

It likely will hinge on how far the LeBron and the Cavs take the newcomer in the playoffs.
