Big Bank Hank of Sugar Hill Gang fame is dead. He was 57.

TMZ confirmed the rapper’s death. Born Henry Jackson, he died early Tuesday (Nov. 11) morning from cancer.

Hot 97 DJ Funkmaster Flex first announced Hank’s passing on his Instagram page. It was Hank who infamously cribbed Grandmaster Caz’s rhymes for the 1979 smash hit “Rapper’s Delight.” The song is considered the moment Hip-Hop music became commercially viable.

Rest in power Big Bank Hank.
