Credit it to my Philadelphia lineage, but yours truly is elated. Three months after completing a two-year prison bid for tax fraud and drug charges, rap fans receive bars from Beanie Sigel on a new Young Chris track titled “Legends Never Lie,” also featuring Dreamchasers crooner Gourdan Banks.
Set to appear on the Young Gunners’ upcoming mixtape The Network 3 (The Closure), this release could easily bring a tear to the eye of longtime Roc-A-Fella stans. The Broad Street Bully trades verses with his State Property brethren, leaving no indication that he’s lost a step. Banks’ powerful chants of “Legends never die,” on the chorus add a soulful air to the Cardiak-produced tune. And there’s also a line from Sigel mentioning former partner in rhyme Jay Z.
“You know it’s ‘Crew Love’ at the end the day, though,” Sigel spits, referencing a collaboration with Hov and Memphis Bleek that appeared on Belly‘s film soundtrack. Chris quickly replies, “And this is Roc-A-Fella for life,” urging Sigel to say “Yeah, I’m still on the payroll.”
Again, could you be any happier about any of this? Listen to “Legends Never Lie” below.
