Ferguson protesters who are peacefully marching throughout Missouri en route to Gov. Jay Nixon‘s mansion to Jefferson City were met with racist taunts and gunfire. The NAACP group says that counter-protesters supporting the grand jury’s decision regarding Darren Wilson have been especially abrasive in a pair of rural towns.
As reported by the Columbia Missourian, around 50 protesters part of what is dubbed by the NAACP as the “Journey For Justice” march were said to be met by nearly 200 counter-protesters in the towns of Gerald and Rosebud. Former Rosebud mayor Clyde Zelch claimed 175 people joined him in their brand of protests although conflicting local news puts the number at around 50 as Raw Story noted in their report.

Television station KRCG reports that some people in Rosebud shouted obscenities and held signs telling them to “go home.”
The Columbia Missourian reports that at least one person displayed a Confederate flag, and the back window of a bus traveling with the marchers was broken by a bullet.
A display of fried chicken, watermelon and a 40-ounce beer bottle were also placed in the street near the protesters. The Columbia Missourian reports that about 200 people met the 50 protesters when they reached Rosebud.
The activists are part of the NAACP’s Journey for Justice.
Many of the counter-protesters wore makeshift Ku Klux Klan hoods and one man wore a shirt supporting Wilson. That same man also said that if protesters wanted to burn their own towns, it was fine but that he would not stand for it anywhere. The NAACP’s march has been nothing but peaceful, but the gentleman still carried his doubts.
Undeterred, the marchers should arrive at the Governor’s Mansion today (Dec. 5). They Journey Of Justice group have been marching around 20 miles per day since last Saturday.
