The case of shooting victim Beanie Sigel has not been solved, but police believe the rapper was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.

According to a Philadelphia Inquirer report, Lt. Danny Adcock said the bullet that struck the former Roc-A-Fella artist in the abdomen might have come from one or two vehicles whose occupants fired at his brother-in-law Umar Salahuddin’s residence.

“He may have become involved in something that was not necessarily his own doing,” Adcock said. “Just wrong place, wrong time, if you will.”

Sigel, who is listed in critical but stable condition at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City, was shot outside of Salahuddin’s home in Pleasantville, N.J. on December 5.

While Salahuddin is not a suspect in the shooting, police are looking at his involvement in the events that occurred that morning. The 22-year-old man had scrapes and bruises on his face and arms, but has not cooperated with the authorities. “Because of his lack of cooperation, we’re not sure how he received those,” Adcock said.

Sigel was staying at Salahuddin’s home, where he was just one day away from completing a home confinement term after serving time tax evasion and weapons charges. He had just returned from taking his children to school.
