George Zimmerman landed back in the news last week after being arrested – yet again – for aggravated assault and domestic violence with a weapon. Zimmerman’s lawyer threw his client under the bus, stating to reporters that he isn’t “lucky with the ladies.”

According to a report from NBC News, Zimmerman was arrested late last Friday (Jan. 9) for allegedly throwing a wine bottle at his girlfriend as said by Florida police and his lawyer. Zimmerman, 31, was detained in Lake Mary around 10 p.m. that night and appeared in court the following morning. Zimmerman posted a $5,000 bond and was released. As a result, Zimmerman was ordered to stay away from his girlfirend and out of Volusia County.

More from NBC News:

Zimmerman’s attorney, Don West, said the woman is his girlfriend, and the incident involved him allegedly tossing a wine bottle at her earlier this week at his Lake Mary home. West said he did not want to “speculate” about the situation that led to the alleged assault, adding that Zimmerman “has not been lucky with the ladies.”

He also must surrender any firearms he owns — even though the judge said there was no indication he used one in this case. He is expected to appear in court again Feb. 17. West said Zimmerman will plead not guilty. “Anyone who has been through what he has would have a rough time,” West said.

West also represented Zimmerman in the Trayvon Martin shooting case and has contended with his clients brushes with the law since his acquittal of second-degree murder. Zimmerman has been allegedly violent towards his ex-wife, and to other women since splitting from his marriage.
