Sean “Diddy” Combs’ adopted son, Quincy, was set to appear on FOX drama Empire. However, Diddy pulled the plug when he got wind that getting cast on the show also meant giving up some of his music rights to 20th Century Fox TV.
Empire is a huge hit, so an upcoming musician, like Quincy, making an appearance would be a huge look. However, Poppa Puffy wasn’t have his son giving up his publishing.

Stars on the show are subject to similar music contracts as those on other shows like “Glee” or “American Idol,” which propel their players into superstardom. “Empire” features a score curated by hit-maker Timbaland and includes original songs that are sold on iTunes and Spotify.
A source told us: “Diddy kicked up a huge stink and called all the top brass at 20th Century Fox TV to get them to change their rules over music rights,” but he didn’t get his way. “He said there was no way his son was signing over his intellectual property. So he banned him from the show.”
Word is that Quincy, who is the natural son of R&B crooner Al B. Sure and Diddy’s longtime, currently ex-girlfriend Kim Porter, is still being considered for a role in Empire‘s second season. However, 20th Century Fox TV isn’t budging on the music rights issue.
Considering how rich Diddy has stayed despite the ups and downs of the music business, good luck with that.
