The 46th NAACP Image Awards took place this weekend at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium, bringing out a bevy of Black entertainers from television and the big screen. The lion’s share of the awards went to the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. biopic Selma, and ABC hit shows Black-ish and How To Get Away With Murder.

Director Ava DuVernay’s Selma went home with four NAACP Image Awards for Outstanding Motion Picture, Actor (David Oyelowo), Supporting Actor (Common) and Supporting Actress (Carmen Ejogo). Oyelowo’s turn as the film’s protagonist as King has been buzzed about Hollywood, although some feel DuVernay’s film has been snubbed by the Academy Awards.

ABC comedy vehicle Black-ish, starring the award show’s host, Anthony Anderson, swept all five of the comedy categories. Shonda Rhimes’ crime drama How To Get Away With Murder won three awards, one of which was an award for Lead Actress for Viola Davis.

Taraji P. Henson, who has been dazzling as Cookie Lyon on Fox’s hit show Empire, won an Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture award for No Good Deed and was also named Entertainer of the Year.

Among honored guests were director Spike Lee, music executive Clive Davis, and U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, who all were honored. Oprah Winfrey, Kerry Washington, Russell Simmons, Laurence Fisburburne, Will Smith and other celebs served as presenters.
