Earlier this week, news that a Detroit mother confessed to the murder of her 9-year-old son and 13-year-old daughter went public and shocked many. More gruesome details around the deaths of the children are emerging, with the mother forcing one of her daughters to place her sister’s dead body in the freezer where she and her brother were discovered.

Michelle Blair, 35, was arraigned on child abuse charges and is currently being held on $1 million bond. Blair was arrested this past Tuesday (Mar. 24) after authorities discovered the frozen bodies of Stephen Berry and Stoni Blair in a deep freezer. Blair confessed to killing her son in May 2012 and murdering her daughter nine months later according to reports from several outlets. The Detroit Free Press has uncovered details that one of Blair’s two remaining children helped put Stoni Blair’s body into the freezer.

More from the Free Press:

According to the petition, on May 25, 2013, Stoni told her mother that she did not like her siblings. “Mitchelle Blair became enraged and strangled Stoni with a black T-shirt and suffocated her with a plastic bag,” according to the document.

After the then 13-year-old died, Blair is accused of then making her older daughter “put Stoni in the deep freezer.”

The children were found in the freezer Tuesday by a crew working to evict Blair from her apartment.

Blair admitted she killed the children, telling police she believed they had sexually assaulted a child, a person familiar with the investigation said. There is nothing to indicate the child had been sexually assaulted, the source said.

During her arrest on Tuesday, Blair reportedly said: “They’re both dead! I did it!” according to police.

According to records, Blair reportedly tortured her children via strangling them, burning them with irons, throwing hot water on them and other barbaric acts. Even more bizarre, Blair continued to reap in welfare benefits, which was calculated on the premise all her children were still alive.
