The Avengers: Age of Ultron press tour isn’t going so well, especially over the last couple days. Actors Jeremy Renner and Chris Evans are now copping apology pleas for calling Scarlett Johansson’s character, Black Widow, a whore and slut, and such.
It’s obviously not the best way to get press for the movie, but it worked. Renner started in on the slut talk as a joking response to Black Widow (a.k.a. Natasha Romanoff) falling for Bruce Banner (a.k.a. The Hulk) in the new movie. “She’s a slut, a whore” said Renner.
Evans meanwhile laughs hysterically, and then he chimes in. “I was going to say the something along [those] lines…[she’s] a trick man!”
Overkill?
The studio heads must’ve heard about the sexist jokes because both actors apologized in record time. Evans said, “We answered in a very juvenile and offensive way that rightfully angered some fans. I regret it and sincerely apologize.”
Renner added, “I am sorry that this tasteless joke about a fictional character offended anyone. It was not meant to be serious in any way. Just poking fun during an exhausting and tedious press tour.”
And that’s that.
