If anyone remembers this classic clip of Geraldo Rivera getting a broken nose on his own show, then the awkwardness and cowardice that he recently displayed in Baltimore shouldn’t be that surprising.

Rivera, a correspondent for Fox News, was reporting live from Baltimore yesterday (April 28) when a protestor confronted, and schooled him.

What did Geraldo do? He mostly just ran away, even though the conversation didn’t call for that kind of response.

“A Black man can raise his voice and you don’t have to be intimated, because I want you and Fox News to get out of Baltimore City,” says the man to Rivera. “ Because you’re not reporting about the boarded up homes and the homeless people under MLK you’re not reporting about the poverty levels up and down North Avenue.”

He goes on pointing out that the “300 Men March” for peace in Baltimore two years ago went unnoticed by the media. “You weren’t here but you’re here for the Black riots that happened. You’re not here for the death of Freddie Gray, you’re here for the story.”

Rivera squirms and turns his back, as the man tells the surrounding crowd and Fox News crew to turn off their cameras. “I want to talk to you without the cameras,’ he says to Rivera. “I want the White media out of Baltimore City until ya’ll report the real story.”

The video doesn’t show Rivera responding outside of mumbling and smiling. He was more vocal on Fox & Friends the next day calling the man an “obstructionist” and “annoying.” Rivera added that the man was displaying the “kind of youthful anarchy that led to the destruction and pain in that community.”
