Those who purchased and pirated the Mayweather Vs. Pacquiao fight were none too kind towards Jamie Foxx’s Black chuuch rendition of the “Star-Spangled Banner.” According to the actor/part-time singer, everybody present in MGM Grand Garden Arena in Vegas heard it much differently.

“First of all, everybody calm down,” he interjected while appearing on Access Hollywood. “We had a little bit of a situation with our ear pieces. The [ear] pack actually dropped off, so I couldn’t, you know… I can’t hear what’s playing, so I just had to go on my own. Hopefully they understand. It’s just the national anthem.”

He then showed the humorous side that has made him a millionaire saying, “I think a little bit was just people wanted to have something to talk about,” he added joking. “But everything’s cool and the national anthem will be on my album and I’m gonna do whatever the hell I want to.”

The album he’s referring to is the upcoming Hollywood: A Story Of A Dozen Roses, dropping on May 18.

Foxx told Ellen DeGeneres a similar story: “I’m singing with an I can’t hear what the organ is doing with the big crowd,” Foxx said. “So some of it was a little off, but in the arena it killed. The telecast was a little off.”

“But we still love America,” he added. Hilarious.
