Allen Iverson‘s playing days are long over, but his impact on the NBA and the sport of basketball period is undeniable. Iverson was a guest on CBS This Morning discussing his upcoming documentary, and also giving credit to journalist Tom Brokav for adding a boost in his career.

CBS This Morning host Gayle King noted Iverson’s staggering accomplishments, including his 11 NBA All-Star appearances and his 2001 Most Valuable Player award. But the host also raised Iverson’s troubled past and his stint in jail when he was still in high school. Iverson gamely discussed his life as much of it will be on display for the upcoming Showtime documentary, IVERSON, which debuts this Saturday (May 16).

When asked about his perceived financial struggles, Iverson quickly shot down those rumors by repeatedly saying he’s not struggling and that he’s tired of defending himself over the allegations he’s in the poor house. However, Iverson wouldn’t elaborate beyond that. Iverson also credited television journalist Tom Brokav for investigating the so-called injustice of his case, while also praising former Georgetown coach John Thompson and former Virginia governor Doug Wilder.

IVERSON airs on Showtime May 16, 9:00 p.m. ET. See this link for upcoming showtimes.
