Josh Duggar, of the TLC show 19 Kids & Counting, has confirmed reports that he molested five girls as a teenager, including his own sisters. Josh, now 27, committed the acts in 2002, but the sealed documents were  recently exposed by In Touch Weekly.

In a statement to People, Josh admitted to acting “inexcusably” and said that he was “extremely sorry” for his actions. “I hurt others, including my family and close friends.” Josh resigned from his position at the Family Research Council, and TLC has pulled 19 Kids & Counting from the schedule.

Parents Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, knew of the incident, but didn’t contact authorities until a year after they found out. Since the statute of limitations has passed he won’t face prosecution.”I confessed this to my parents who took several steps to help me address the situation,” the statement continues. “We spoke with the authorities where I confessed my wrongdoing, and my parents arranged for me and those affected by my actions to receive counseling. I understood that if I continued down this wrong road that I would end up ruining my life.”

Along with Josh’s statement, his parents, and wife, both spoke out in his support. The wife says he told her about the “teenager mistakes” two years before the got married.

The Oprah show tipped authorities off  after receiving an anonymous email detailing the molestation report. The Duggars were later dropped from appearing on the show.

According to the police report, Josh confessed to fondling the victims’ breast and vaginas, and was sent to a treatment center of some sort, for three months. His father reported the molestation to a state trooper whom he already knew beforehand document state, although it’s unclear how well.
