There’s a petition floating around Change.org, demanding Iggy Azalea be stripped of at least one of her Billboard Music Awards. Azalea’s wins included the Best Song trophy for “Fancy,” yet petitioners say Nicki Minaj’s “Anaconda” single is the rightful winner.
The petition notes that “Fancy” came out a month before the eligibility period (someone’s been doing their research).

Iggy Azalea’s 2015 Billboard Award for Best Song has been proven invalid. The eligibility time period for nominations is March 10th, 2014 through March 2015. “Fancy” was released on February 17th, 2014, nearly a month before the eligibility starting.
This is unfair to the other nominees in these category, especially to “Anaconda” by Nicki Minaj, who most likely would’ve won.
Billboard did not follow their own guidelines and should have to recalculate these nominations without “Fancy” as a nominee.
About 21,000 people signed, but the petition already failed. According to an update from this morning (May 28):
A spokesperson for Dick Clark Productions, who produces the award show, has said that the award is still Iggy’s unfortunately.
We got to nearly 20,000 signatures, which is freaking insane. I think Nicki possibly saw the petition, and MTV even wrote an article about it! Thank you for all the all the support! Let’s make sure Nicki rightfully takes what’s hers home next year by requesting radio stations to play “Hey Mama” and “The Night Is Still Young”, as well as purchasing them both on iTunes if you haven’t already!”
