XXL magazine has their specific criteria on what constitutes a Freshman or not–and that’s perfectly fine. But that doesn’t always mean their selections don’t result in polarizing discussion that highlight a lot of questionable picks.

When you really wrap your head around the subject, it’s hard to believe that Chicago’s Lil Herb a.k.a. G Herbo has been snubbed two years straight during his period of eligibility. Aside from gaining a sizable following on social media and respect of his identical peer, Lil Durk, he remains one of the only artists able to keep up with Nicki Minaj on track as heard on 2014’s “Chiraq.”

In other words, he’s definitely not one to sleep on.

Although it doesn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things, the Windy City spitter still puts his frustrations to wax on the obviously titled “XXL.” He even went as far to create a mock-up design of the most recent cover.

“I missed that Freshman cover twice like I ain’t a factor (what?)/And still your favorite rapper’s favorite rapper,” he growls over top a bass heavy street heater. On the bright side of things, Lil Herb has accomplished so much at just 19-years-old so his inevitable development will allow the mag to put more Kidd Kidd’s on the cover as he continues to grow as an artist.
