We’re sad to report that veteran New York City rapper Pumpkinhead has passed away. He was 39.

AllHipHop.com reported the MC’s death but there is currently no information about the specific cause of his demise. Immortal Technique, who collaborated with PH in the past, confirmed his death on Twitter.

Born Robert Alan Diaz in Brooklyn, Pumpkinhead came to prominence in NYC’s underground Hip-Hop scene of the late 1990s and early 2000s. He at one point recorded for the independent rap label Makin’ Records, home to contemporaries like the group Natural Resource (of which Jean Grae was a member).

Despite not being on the mainstream radar, Pumpkinhead still performed nationwide.

Rest In Power Pumpkinhead. See more odes to the late rapper below.
