Former TV talk show host and current payday loan pitchman Montel Williams made the reckless choice of aiming some criticism towards activist Deray McKesson. Naturally, Twitter caught went of the tweet and unleashed a nice amount of vicious slander towards Williams’ direction.

Williams began the volley of tweets by firing off an early morning tweet Wednesday (Jun. 10) in where he says plain as day that McKesson is “no MLK.” The reactions to the tweet were swift, at times hilarious, and even cautionary. But, for the most part, Williams was handed a good, old-fashioned Twitter dragging as the kids say.

But let’s rewind things a bit. Fox News host Sean Hannity had McKesson and The Black Sphere‘s Kevin Jackson as guests on the show. As expected, Hannity took the moment to attack McKesson’s mission and do his best to disrupt the young activist’s words and explanations to the forceful questions. Things got a little tense when Jackson, a Black man, called McKesson a “race pimp” and talking loudly to drown out any contested points.

Getting back to Williams, who tried to clarify his statements although it was more than a little bit too late for all that. We’ll have to give Williams his props for sticking to his loud-and-wrong guns by leaving the tweet active, but peep the following pages for some of the hilarious responses that came after.
