Anthony Hamilton is a Grammy-Award winner R&B hitmaker. He also hails from Charlotte, North Carolina; just a few hours from where the Charleston church shooting rocked the entire nation.

While speaking to Hip-Hop Wired at the 2015 BET Awards, the socio-conscious singer revealed his thoughts on the inhumane actions of Dylann Roof and the Confederate flag waving high in his neighboring state.

“Charleston…was just a sad thing,” he exclaimed. “It’s shame you can’t go praise the Lord and be one with your faith.” Switching gears to the symbol of hate a select few refuse to let go, Hamilton sided with the Union.

“I think that any flag that has anything to do with anything negative needs to come down,” he continued.

Look for Anthony Hamilton to bring it full circle on his upcoming seventh studio album, which he also revealed he is currently working on. Watch his interview above.
