Terrence Howard and his star turn as Lucious Lyon on the smash hit drama Empire has been remarkable to witness, but the actor’s legal troubles add a bit of tarnish to his career. On Tuesday, Howard’s ex-wife filed a suit related to claims that he assaulted her while on vacation in 2013.

TMZ reported on the civil complaint filed in Los Angeles by Michele Ghent, who alleges that her ex-husband struck here while they were staying in a rental home in Costa Rica in July 2013. This particular situation has been dogging Howard for quite some time, along with allegations that Ghent was stalking her ex-husband and his current wife on Instagram. But Ghent’s latest move might be the latest in a series of chess moves between the warring parties.

From TMZ:

Michelle Ghent claims she and Terrence were at a rental house in Costa Rica in 2013 when they began arguing and he grabbed her by the neck, pushed her against the bathroom wall and began strangling her. She says he threatened to kill her and then mule kicked her.

Ghent filed the lawsuit just 1 day before the statute of limitations ran.

The Hollywood Reporter also reported on the filing, adding that Howard’s son-in-law Billy attempted to break the pair apart as they fought. Allegedly, Howard threatened to kill Ghent with his hands around her neck as he continued his assault.

THR contacted Howard’s representatives but haven’t updated their report.
