**Update**

Duck Duck Records releases a statement:

It is with beyond a heavy heart that Duck Down Music is sadly confirming that Sean Price passed away early this morning in his Brooklyn apartment, Saturday, August 8th, 2015. The cause of death is currently unknown, but it was reported that he died in his sleep. He’s survived by his wife, and his three children.

Sean Price, who turned 43 in March of this year, was a beloved rap artist. He was 1/2 of the group Heltah Skeltah, a key member of the Boot Camp Clik, and a successful solo artist, known simply as Sean Price.

Sean’s family and friends are asking for time to grieve and process the news. Further details will be issued when more information is available.

It is with heavy hearts that we must report the loss of longtime Duck Down Records member, Sean Price.

Sources close to Hip-Hop Wired tell us that the 43-year-old Brooklyn native died in his sleep without warning early this morning.

Before embarking on successful solo career in the mid-00s, he was known as Ruck as one-half of the unapologetically brash and lyrical proficient duo, Heltah Skeltah. He was also a member of the underground supergroup Random Axe, which consisted of himself, Guilty Simpson and Black Milk.

A loss of this magnitude doesn’t hit the Hip-Hop community every day and it’s taken everyone by storm in the worst way possible.

See his last tweet below and the multitude of condolences from the Hip-Hop community.

R.I.P. to Sean Mandela.
