Over the weekend, at least 18 people were shot and wounded in the city of Chicago, including a 64-year-old woman. The youngest victim in the rash of shootings was a 15-year-old boy and at least one death as been reported.
The Illinois city has been ravaged by shooting homicides, with the death toll numbering at 336 for the year. This weekend’s shooting follows a particularly deadly Labor Day Weekend spree that left eight dead and over 43 wounded. As reported by NBC Chicago, this weekend’s shootings are tallied between 6 P.M. Friday (Sept. 11) and Monday 2:00 A.M. so the numbers have the potential to rise.

A 64-year-old woman was among the 18 wounded in shootings across Chicago since Friday evening.
The woman was struck by a bullet that flew through the window of her West Garfield Park home early Saturday morning, police said. The bullet sailed through the window of the home in the 3800 block of West Monroe at about 2:55 a.m. and struck the woman in the leg.
She was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital, where her condition stabilized police said.
In another incident Sunday afternoon, a man survived after being shot nine times in the North Side Uptown neighborhood.
The 24-year-old victim was outside at about 12:45 p.m. in the 1200 block of West Ainslie when he heard shots and felt pain, police said. The man suffered nine gunshot wounds to the right side of his torso and his right leg.
The youngest victim Chicago shootings of the weekend was a 15-year-old who was shot in the shoulder Sunday (Sept. 13) afternoon in the Woodlawn district. As reported by the Chicago Tribune, a 17-year-old girl was shot in the West Englewood neighborhood. A 19-year-old man was pronounced dead in the Gresham neighborhood after he was shot around 5 P.M.
