For every commendable stride the Black Lives Matter takes, there’s either an influential opponent willing to shoot down the cause or a widespread story of cancerous Black on Black crime that distorts the message.

Wale can identify with both sides of the fence and during a recent interview with REVOLT TV, he offered up his opinion on how the movement can be a cohesive one from this point on.

“I want black lives to matter to black lives more,” the star Hip-Hop artist, who’s recently project, The Album About Nothing shot to the top of the charts, stated frankly. “I feel like we can only focus on what we can focus on. Modifying the moral of the people starts within. It starts with us. It’s been easy to just blame other people for stuff like that and point the finger. But Black lives should matter to black lives. I don’t care about trying to rally up people for the wrong reasons. I want us to realize the power that we have within ourselves and to love ourselves more should be the first object to understanding Black lives matter.”

The D.C. native is no stranger the front lines of the Black Matter Movement, either. During the Baltimore riots spawned by the apparent murder of Freddie Gray at the hands of several Baltimore cops, he was quick to arrive on the scene to talk to his people in attempts to quell their anger.
