If you had your eyeballs locked in last night’s Emmy Awards, chances are you caught the newest Apple Music commercial starring some serious Black Girls Rock star power in Mary J. Blige, Kerry Washington & Taraji P. Henson.

Apple’s late entry into the streaming world has been criticized for its cryptic promotion tactics but the new TV spot catered to a particular demographic without alienating other music lovers.

In a perfect world, fans love to imagine that their favorite stars hang out with they are not front and center on a top-rated TV show or touring a new album all across Europe. The advertisement opens to Washington and Henson being welcomed into Queen Mary’s humble abode and eventually kicking back with some 90s tunes while showcasing Apple Music’s custom playlist features.

The Apple Music commercial was directed by Hollywood’s new elite filmmaker, Ava DuVernay, who told her Twitter followers that there is more goodness where this spot came from. (Two more, to be exact!) The timing of the ad was also perfect seeing it was the only way fans could get an earful of Drake and Future’s new joint mixtape, What a Time To Be Alive.
