The Game is being sued again, this time by a company claiming the rapper postponed and ultimately canceled a show, after pocketing the deposit money. A lawyer for the booking company suing thinks Game and his team are running a scheme “to con as much money as they can out of innocent promoters.”
According to attorney Lowell Sidney, “It’s well known in the industry that this is to be expected from him, and he’s proving everyone right.”
Reports the New York Post:
The Dr. Dre protégé, whose real name is Jayceon Terrell Taylor, was hired by Universal Attractions, a New York-based talent booking agency, to do a concert in Cambridge, Mass., last April, the suit states.
But as the date of the show at the Middle East Restaurant and Nightclub approached. Taylor postponed, the lawsuit claims.
“The Game and his representatives rescheduled the event on numerous occasions,” the suit says.
He “ultimately canceled the event in May 2015,” according to court papers.
A representative for the 36-year-old hip-hop artist, Cash Jones of 5th Amendment Entertainment, had agreed to the gig in exchange for a $10,000 deposit on March 16, the suit claims.
But Taylor didn’t show up, and he refused to return the deposit, the suit says.
“The Game and his representatives failed to provide any reasons or excuse for canceling the event and not refunding the money,” according to court papers.
They “should have known that the $10,000 deposit was to be refunded if he failed to perform,” according to the Manhattan Supreme Court suit, filed over the weekend.
Lawsuits have been an unofficial running theme for Game, as he gears up to drop The Documentary 2. He was sued in June by the undercover cop he two-pieced at a charity basketball game, and one of the contestants from She’s Got Game filed a $10 million sexual assault suit against him (claims of which he has denied).
Weeks after the assault claim came another lawsuit, for allegedly jacking the cover art of his Dej Loaf-assisted single, “Ryda.”
