Before the world will bear witness to the sensationalized retelling of the O.J. Simpson trial in the form of American Crime Story: The People vs. OJ Simpson, there will be a more authentic range of emotions shown in Lifetime Movie Network’s upcoming documentary The Secret Tapes of the O.J. Case: The Untold Story and A&E’s take with O.J. Speaks: The Hidden Tapes.
More than 20 years after the dreadfully unsolved murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman, friends and family members are still left with holes in their hearts that will probably never be mended. One of those friends, Kris Jenner is speaking out in LMN’s doc about how she will forever carry a burden she didn’t speak up loudly enough.
“At the end of Nicole’s life, I think she finally was at a place where she knew she had to be more vocal with what was going on and she was in trouble,” Jenner said, remembering O.J. Simpson’s abusive behavior. “The one thing she would tell all of us by the time, you know, it got to that level was, ‘He’s going to kill me and he’s going to get away with it.”
“I will always feel guilty that I didn’t pay more attention and didn’t speak up when I thought anything was wrong or asked her more, ‘Do you want to talk about it?'” she continued.
The weight of the guilt must have been especially heavy considering her late ex-husband, Robert Kardashian Sr., successfully helped the embattled football star obtain a not guilty verdict in 1995.
Lifetime Movie Network’s documentary airs on September 30 at 8 p.m. ET while A&E’s premieres a day later on October 1 at 9 p.m. ET.
