Dame Dash and Jay Z‘s past partnership in Roc-A-Fella Records seemed nearly unbreakable during the label’s heyday. Now, the former colleagues couldn’t be further apart with Dash not even certain that he and Hov were ever truly friends.
Dame Dash sat down with Wiretapped TV over the weekend for an interview. Host Sharon Carpenter opened up the sit down with a focus on Dash’s connection with Kanye West. Dash was reluctant to dive too deeply into their relationship but did say the pair have possible plans of working together again as they did for the Loisaidas film. There was also slight mention of a horror film, but Dash didn’t offer much in the way of details.
What turned heads the most, however, was Carpenter mentioning a recent Jay Z interview with Jimmy Kimmel in where the Brooklyn mogul shared a story about how Dash made him perform against his wishes. Dash confirmed the story, but things got weird when he was asked about their situation today.
“We were growing apart business-wise, our friendship was built on our business obviously,” Dash said.
He added, “So we weren’t around each other hanging out. We’d be around each other, just like Kanye, when we were working. But because I was so passionate about what were was doing, I become friendly with people I work with. I really thought we was friends but I guess I got gaffled.”
