DJ Paul and Juicy J recently united to fight a lawsuit, opposed to convening in the studio to give fans the proper Three 6 Mafia reunion they have been waiting for.

The Academy Award-winning duo stood accused of infringing on a couple of 8Ball & MJG samples dating back to the time where the group was simply just an underground favorite Hip-Hop crew hailing from Memphis.

Reggie Boyland, the CEO of OTS Records and Films, claimed to be the sole proprietor owner of the 8Ball & MJG records “Pimps In The House” and “Listen to the Lyrics” to which Three 6 Mafia sampled on their 1996 and 1997 albums Chapter 1: The End and Chapter 2: World Domination, respectively. Both DJ Paul and Juicy J called for the lawsuit to be dismissed after Boyland failed to produce viable proof and copyright registrations that he owned the tracks in question, but in the end, a settlement has been reached.

TheJasmineBrand reports that all parties came to a financial agreement on Thursday, November 5 after Boyland had previously demanded unspecified damages and an injunction against the group from continuing to distribute the music. 8Ball & MJG are frequent collaborators of their Memphis counterpart, which includes an appearance on the group’s last formal album, Last 2 Walk back in 2008.

The case has now been closed.
