A drug-filled weekend bender at a Nevada brothel almost cost Lamar Odom his life, and his road to recovery is going slowly. Reportedly, the former NBA star doesn’t know what got him in the hospital and doesn’t recognize people he knows.

In an interview with Ellen DeGeneres scheduled to air Monday, Odom’s estranged wife Khloé Kardashian revealed that the 36-year-old former basketball player still isn’t aware of how he actually landed in the hospital.
“We tell him that he had a brain injury, but we can’t tell him how that brain injury was caused, because that will set him back,” Kardashian explained. “He never asks why he’s here. He doesn’t ask. He’s really confused a lot — sometimes he knows who the president is and his birthday, and sometimes he thinks he’s 26, and I say, ‘I bet you wish you were 26, so do I!’”
But according to TMZ, Kardashian may be downplaying the severity of his condition. The gossip site’s source says that he is unable to recognize some of his closest friends and family members, and that he’s made little progression in the last few weeks.
