Love & Hip-Hop: New York star Mendeecees Harris is going away. Today (Dec. 1), he was sentenced to eight years in prison on federal drug trafficking charges.

Reports Democrat & Chronicle:

Mendeecees Harris, a star in the popular VH1 reality series Love & Hip Hop-New York, received a 97-month prison sentence in Rochester on Tuesday for a federal drug trafficking crime.

Harris pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Rochester in April.

Harris’ plea called for a sentence of eight to 10 years in prison.

He has been free under a bail agreement in which his earnings from the show and his paid public appearances are turned over to the federal government. That amount was more than $100,000 in April but may have significantly grown since then.

Earlier this year, Harris had to forfeit his VH1 earnings as part of his plea deal.

Mendeecees addressed his sentence on Instagram. “My transition to be a better person a productive person started well before this case,” he writes. “However in my past I made some bad decisions.”
