After several decades of shaking up Hip-Hop and R&B with their respective talents, Nas and Erykah Badu are finally crossing paths and collaborating on the musical end. Instead of a standard hook and verse mashup however, the two superstars are joining forces via Badu’s upcoming film, The Land, which Nas will serve as the executive producer for the soundtrack.

The Land stars Moises Arias, Rafi Gavron, Michael K. Williams, Kim Coates, Machine Gun Kelly, Jorge Lendeborg Jr., Ezri Walker and Badu, and chronicles the journey of four Cleveland teenagers who get intertwined in a local drug queenpin’s circle as they haplessly focus on their professional skateboarding careers. It was written and directed by Steve Caple Jr. and Lizzie Friedman with Priority Pictures’ Greg Little and Karen Lauder serving as producers alongside Tyler Davidson of Low Spark Films as well as Blake Pickens and Stephen Love.

“[I’m a] huge fan of my man Steve Caple Jr. I think he can become the next great filmmaker. [I’m] also, very excited to be working with my former agent and friend Charles King on his first film with his new venture. All great energy around the film, which I believe will yield amazing results,” Nas told Variety.

The film is slated to premiere at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival next month.
