Americans get so wrapped in their domestic television that they may miss out on international dramas that will cause them to spew fake emotions.
One of the UK’s top-rated television shows, Downton Abbey is narrowing in on its final season and Sean “Diddy/Puff Daddy” Combs is finding it so hard to say goodbye.
During a BAFTA TV tribute to honor the series’ victory lap, the 46-year-old Bad Boy Records chieftain confessed he gets so engrossed in Downtown Abbey that he not only cries watching it but actually got upset when one of his favorite characters was killed off the show.
“I’m interested in history, kings and lords,” Diddy, 46, told BAFTA. “I watched episode one and got wrapped up in it. Then I found out I had a crush on Lady Sybil. I watched it every week to see her pretty eyes and discovered the show was excellent.”
Actress Jessica Brown Findlay’s character took her final breaths in the middle of season three and it threw Diddy for a loop.
“When she died, it was devastating to me,” he admitted. “I was angry and wrote to the creators saying it was uncalled-for and stressful.”
The woes didn’t stop there as Dan Stevens’ Matthew Crawley character was also killed off the show.
“Then when Matthew Crawley died, it was straight tears in my house,” he said, adding that Matthew’s “plight as an outsider coming in, being hit with a fortune and having to figure it out, reminded me of myself. I’m not happy the show is ending. We have to do something about it.”
We’re not sure this is the heart-wrenching equivalent of Bodie and Poot taking out Wallace, but to each their own.
Downton Abbey’s final episode airs on Christmas Day 2015.
