The NBA playoffs are near, so that means signature kicks will get an “Elite” revamp. Kevin Durant’s Nike KD 8 gets the said treatment, which includes a calf-length compression sock that may or may not make your normal socks jealous.

Says Nike Basketball::

Created in collaboration with designer Leo Chang, the breakthrough basketball shoe features a calf-length compression sock, full-length visible Nike Zoom Air cushioning and Flywire technology with Kevlar® aramid fiber. Strategically placed non-stretch woven materials ensure a snug, secure fit while foam provides protection and comfort.

“Transitioning from a low to high is a decision we made with confidence based on our ongoing feedback from Durant to always push the limit on innovative design,” says Chang.

“The KD8 Elite is conceptually designed to blur the lines between the shoe, sock and tight; seamlessly transitioning between each so you can’t differentiate where one begins and the other ends.”

Still in the mix is the full-length visible Nike Zoom Air cushioning to go along with the Kevlar infused Flywire tech.

The KD8 Elite in the white colorway is out worldwide on April 14 while the grey and black version will be available May 5 and May 26, respectively.
