Community star Donald Glover a.k.a. Childish Gambino is taking a quick break from being a rap star to get back on TV in a series about a rap star. Makes sense when you think about it.

FX has given the greenlight for Atlanta native, Donald Glover to executive produce, write, and star in it’s new Hip-Hop comedy series Atlanta.

The show revolves around a failed musician named Earnest Marks (Glover) who returns to the ATL only to find that his cousin Paperboy (Brian Tyree Henry) is the hottest rapper in the streets. How will a failed artist be able to adapt to the newfound fame of a family member? From the looks of the trailer, hilariously.

Also starring Isiah Whitlock Jr. (from The Wire “Sheeeeiiiiiit” fame amongst other things) and Zazie Beetz, Atlanta looks to humanize the world of a famous rapper and his family while rolling out the laugh out loud moments.

Atlanta premiers this summer on FX. Check out the trailer below and let us know if you’ll be watching.
