Before the currently M.I.A. Frank Ocean, Maxwell was the original R&B artist at large. The Brooklyn native who is masterful at releasing a critically acclaimed project about once every few Presidential terms explained himself on The Breakfast Club.

Now that President Obama’s 2nd term is nearing it’s end, the Brooklyn crooner knows it’s about that time and is releasing an album this summer.

In preparation for the release, the man from the multicultural background made an appearance hit Power 105’s flagship show—sans Angela Yee—where he spoke to Charlamagne Tha God and DJ Envy about why there were times he didn’t feel Black enough, why he takes so long releasing his albums, and just how far one groupie went to meet him.

Check out  10 things we learned about Maxwell on The Breakfast Club on the following pages.
