In what may be a case of too little, too late, the folks at BuzzFeed issued an apology via a tweet that was met with an expected reaction of mistrust regarding the corny #RealBlackPeopleQuestions video. Despite the website’s earnest claims to do better by its Black audience, the stink of the unforgivable cheesiness from the video remains prominent.
As reported by Clutch, the website posted its apology on Monday (Apr. 18) amid little fanfare. Much of that could be because people are still processing how anyone on BuzzFeed’s staff could have approved such a ham-handed feature.
The publication’s tweet reads, “We’ve heard your concerns about last week’s video. We made a mistake, and want to get better at earning the trust of our black audience.”
