Johnny Manziel‘s off field antics (like allegedly assaulting a girlfriend) and on field non-performance led to his getting unceremoniously dropped by the Cleveland Browns, and more recently Nike. Nevertheless, there are those who are partially blaming Johnny Football’s struggle on Drake’s homie, and alleged cousin, Ryan Silverstein aka OVO Ryan.
Reports the New York Post:
Ryan “OVO Ryan” Silverstein, who runs with Drake’s inner circle as the rapper’s assistant, is one of the fixtures in Manziel’s downward-spiraling life. Though Silverstein may count the rapper and Heisman Trophy winner among his biggest fans, NFL Network analyst Rich Eisen isn’t one of them.
“Ryan Silverstein, instead of driving Johnny Manziel to Coachella, and driving Johnny Manziel to 1 Oak, or driving Johnny Manziel into a light pole on Sunset Boulevard, drive him to rehab,” Eisen pleaded on his show Tuesday.
“You want to do this guy a favor? Even if he doesn’t want to go, you drive him. You want to do your boy a solid? Get him in a car and take him to a spot and don’t even tell him where you’re taking him and leave him there. And check him in.”
Manziel instead was fired by agent Drew Rosenhaus — the second representative to dump him this offseason. Nike also announced it was no longer sponsoring Manziel as part of his turbulent week, which included partying with Silverstein at Coachella, where Manziel was spotted swaying in a ball pit.
Hey man, OVO Ryan goes wherever Johnny tells him to go. So don’t bank on that.
This is the first time we’ve ever heard of a glorified chauffeur, no shots, being tasked with saving someone on a downward spiral.
